In the Network section of the Order VMware Cloud on Dell EMC SDDC form, specify the IP addressing information for configuring the management subnets such as Cloud Operations, VeloCloud, Out-Of-Band (OOB), and SDDC networks.

Prerequisites

  • An existing network that can handle multiple subnets should be available at the SDDC location.

  • A router with Internet connectivity to which the rack can be connected should be available at the SDDC location.
  • Ensure that you provide the underlay networking details for the uplink network to establish a connection between the SDDC and your network.

For more information on networking, see Network Settings.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Services Console at https://console.cloud.vmware.com/csp/gateway/discovery.
  2. Launch the VMware Cloud on Dell EMC service.
  3. Expand your SDDC and click Continue Order.
The SDDC order form opens at the section where you last left.
  4. Enter the cloud operations subnet for accessing the VMware Cloud network corresponding to your region.
You enter the cloud operations subnet only once for a particular region irrespective of the number of SDDCs you order. VMware Cloud establishes a one-time cloud network for each region. This network is used to monitor, manage, and provide services to all VMware Cloud on Dell EMC SDDCs in that region.
Note: You cannot use the cloud operations network to host your workloads.
  5. Under VeloCloud IP assignment, select a VeloCloud IP assignment to connect to VMware Cloud.
    • Static: Select this option to provide an IP address that is manually configured on the cloud-facing interfaces of the VeloCloud devices. Provide the following details:
      • IPv Address
      • IP Address Prefix
      • IP Gateway
    • DHCP: Select this option to allow your network to assign an IP address dynamically, which is configured by default on the cloud-facing interfaces of the VeloCloud devices.
  6. Under Out-of-band management subnet, enter the subnets to connect and to manage the hardware devices such as the management and ToR switches.
You must specify the out-of-band management subnet for each rack. Ensure that the out-of-band management subnet that you provide here is not already in use on your network.
  7. Under SDDC management subnet, enter the SDDC management network subnets to connect the software components such as NSX, ESXi, ePoP, and vCenter.
You must specify the SDDC management subnet for each rack. The SDDC management network is routed to your network through uplink from the SDDC.
Consider the following before specifying your subnets:
    • Specify either a /23 or a /24 subnet if your SDDC has a single rack
    • Specify a /23 subnet if you want to expand your SDDC capacity beyond one rack and use the advanced service such as VMware Tanzu for Kubernetes on multiple clusters
    • Specify a /24 subnet if you don’t intend to expand your SDDC capacity beyond one rack or use the advanced service such as VMware Tanzu for Kubernetes on multiple clusters
  8. Under Local eBGP ASN, enter a local Autonomous System Number (ASN) for operating SDDC and configuring uplink.
Enter any private ASN using 2 bytes, 64512–65534 or 4 bytes, 131072- 4100000000. If you do not enter a value, 65000 is considered as the default ASN value.
  9. Under Requirements, select the Ports check box to confirm that the ports TCP 443 and UDP 2426 are open.
  10. Click Save and Continue.
