You may find that you require more resources to host your data services. VMware Data Services Manager allows you to add additional vSphere Clusters or VMC clusters to your installation at any time after deployment.
Adding environment to your running VMware Data Services Manager installation is similar to the same task performed during deployment: the Organization Administrator deploys a new Agent VM and onboards the Agent.
These procedures are typically performed by a VMware Data Services Manager user in the Organization Administrator role.
Perform the following procedure to add environment to your VMware Data Services Manager installation:
Prepare to Onboard the Agent by ensuring that:
The Agent VM is deployed and has booted properly.
The Agent VM /etc/hosts
file includes an entry similar to the following:
<Agent Appliance vCenter-IP> company_vc.vsphere.local
You can identify the root
login credentials for the newly-deployed Agent VM.
Onboard the Agent with VMware Data Services Manager.
Validate that the environment was added successfully by examining its Status (should be Online) and using the environment (provision a database).
If you run into an issue during Agent onboarding, you must delete the environment and re-start the deployment and onboarding process. Before you delete an infrastructure, ensure that you have deleted all the databases that were provisioned in that infrastructure.
Perform the following procedure to delete a misconfigured environment:
Delete the Agent VM from vCenter.
Log in to the VMware Data Services Manager console.
Select Environment from the left navigation pane.
This action displays the Environment view, a table that lists the currently onboarded environment.
Examine the environments listed in the table, identify the environment that you want to delete, and navigate to that table row.
Click the environment's Agent VM IP.
The environment information Details tab displays.
Click the ENVIRONMENT ACTIONS button located in the upper right-hand corner of the view, and select Delete from the pop-up menu.
The Confirmation dialog displays.
If you are certain that you want to delete the environment, click CONFIRM.
The environment along with its log bundles is deleted.
