When deploying an Edge Compute Stack host, the default configuration for the IP addreses for each part of the infrastructure at the edge location is provided via DHCP by a service at an edge location which issues IP addresses to the Edge Compute Stack host and other devices at that location. This is not always desireable, if an edge location does not have a DHCP service available to allocate IP addreses to the infrastructure you have the ability to provide additional deployment information that will allow the host to use static IP addresses for the components deployed in Edge Compute Stack at the edge location.

As seen in the System Requirements, there are a number of components which require an IP address which are automatically deployed on an Edge Compute Stack host in order to provide the services at the edge location. These addresses can be provided at deployment time or after deployment to enable the Edge Compute Stack host to work with a static IP configuration.

When providing static IP configuration you have two options:

Static IP Configuration at deployment of the host, this option requires you to edit the boot media being used to deploy the Edge Compute Stack host to provide IP addresses from the initial bring up of the Edge Compute Stack Host.

Static IP Configuration after deployment of the host, this option enables you to provide the IP address information after the host has originally been deployed, this option is commonly used for pre-provisioning of a host and ensuring it is ready on a DHCP network before changing the IP address information and shipping to an edge location.
