Host groups also serve as means for Edge Infrastructure Administrators to surface hardware or host based characteristics as Kubernetes labels. Every label that is applied to a host is also applied as a Kubernetes label to the host and might be used as a label to match against for node selection in a Kubernetes manifest.
After applying a label to a host in the Edge Compute Stack service, you can determine whether this Kubernetes label is applied by investigating the host in the host's detail view by clicking the host's serial number in the Hosts view.
In the Group Labels tile, if a group label is gray, it indicates that the label is intended and not yet applied. If the label is blue, it indicates that the label is successfully applied to the host. If you are in doubt, hover over the label on this tile and a message appears to indicate whether the label is currently active on the host.
