A VM can be provisioned from within ESXi or from the centralized management plane, vCenter. For users with only one or two hosts, it may be advantageous to perform the installation from within the ESXi GUI on individual servers. Otherwise, in most cases, vCenter is used to deploy and administer all virtual infrastructure, which holds true for the VVS reference architecture more efficiently.
