Configuring a Virtual Switch for the Edge Host

Before creating a virtual VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host, you must configure a virtual switch on the ESXi host to allow the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host to communicate correctly on the network. Perform the following steps:

Procedure

1. Log in to the VMware vSphere Client and click Hosts and Clusters.
2. Right-click the ESXi host on which you want to install the virtual VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host, and click Settings.

   The ESXi configuration window opens.

3. Click Configure.
4. Click Virtual switches under the Networking category.
5. Select the virtual switch for the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator VM and click Edit.
6. Configure the security policies for the virtual switch as follows:
   1. Select Accept for Promiscuous mode.
   2. Select Accept for MAC address changes.
   3. Select Accept for Forged transmits.
7. Click OK to save the settings and close the window.

Results

The virtual switch is configured for the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host.
