You can add a network to a lab template to make the network available to the virtual machines in the lab template. You can add a lab template network or an organization virtual data center network to a lab template. The network connections can be direct, isolated, or mixed.

To add a network configuration for a lab template:

Prerequisites

To add a network tag to a network, your administrator must have created such a network tag in the Cloud Management > Cloud Networks page.

Procedure

  1. To open the Lab Templates page, select Lab Management > Lab Builder.
  2. On the Lab Templates page, open the cloud drop-down menu and select the cloud you want to use for the lab template you are building. (Only available if you have more than one cloud).

    The first cloud in the drop-down menu is the Default cloud.

  3. To open the Edit Lab Template form, select an unpublished lab template and click Actions > Edit.

    On the Edit Lab Template form, you can update or modify the lab template. Specify a name, a description, add or remove VMs and change the advanced properties for the lab template.

  4. Click the Lab Networking tab.

    The Lab Networking page displays the network diagram of all the network connections for the VMs in the lab template. In the following sample network image, two VMs are connected to two networks, one without the internet and the other network with the internet.

    The networks displayed in the image are:

    • A: A network connection tagged as default and connected to the internet.

    • B: lab_builder_net connection between the VMs is an isolated network connection without the internet. An isolated network is contained within the lab template.

    • C: The default template connection with internet that connects the VMs to external networks.

  5. To add a new network, click Add Network.
  6. Enter the network information in the form. Select the connection type from the Connection drop-down menu. The connection list tags are populated based on the tags created in the Cloud Management > Cloud Networks page. For more information on how to apply network tags, see Apply a Network Tag.
  7. To manually configure the following network information, use the More Options slider button. You can define the:
    • Primary DNS

    • Secondary DNS

    • Static IP pool range to use for the network

  8. Click Save.

    The network diagram reflects the network changes made in the Add Network form.

  9. To save the changes, click Update.
