As an administrator, you can set up various third-party authentication providers to access the VMware Lab Platform administrator user interface and the end-user interface. The authentication integration works with Facebook, Google, VMware Workspace One, and every certified OpenID provider. You can configure multiple authentication providers, and users can use any one of the authentication provider listed on the login page to log in to the VMware Lab Platform interfaces. You can add an authentication provider from Users & Groups > Authentication Providers > Create New, and associate the provider with a user account from Users & Groups > User Accounts > Account Details page.

The Allow Student SSO Login and the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting options in the administrator user interface lets you to add different authentication providers for users.

  • Allow Student SSO Login: This option lets administrators to provide a non-local authentication provider to users to login to the end-user interface.

  • Disable Student Local Provider Login: This option lets administrators to deactivate a non-local authentication provider option from the end-user interface login page.

With the Allow Student SSO Login and the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting options, you can have the following four scenarios for the authentication provider setting in the end-user interface:

  • VMware Lab Platform login only: Deactivate both the Allow Student SSO Login and the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting options.

  • SSO only login: Activate both the Allow Student SSO Login and the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting options.

  • SSO and VMware Lab Platform login: Activate the Allow Student SSO Login option, and deactivate the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting option.

  • No direct login: Deactivate the Allow Student SSO Login option, and activate the Disable Student Local Provider Login setting option.
