Before you can set up a Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as a protected site, you must obtain specific information from Google Cloud.

Before setting up a Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as a protected site, do the following:
  • Obtain login credentials for a Google Cloud solution user account. Google Cloud solution users have elevated privileges for performing administrator operations. You will use the solution user credentials in VMware Live Cyber Recovery UI when you register the Google Cloud site as a protected site.
  • Obtain the IP address of the vCenter Server on Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud.

As a prerequisite, if you are using either static IP assignment or DHCP on your Google Cloud VMware Engine, you must include a Google Cloud VMware Engine internal DNS server when you configure the DRaaS Connector.

Procedure

  1. Log in to your Google Cloud account.
  2. Click the Activate Cloud Shell icon in the upper right to launch the Google Cloud Shell.
    Click the Activate Cloud Shell icon to launch the Google Cloud Shell.
  3. Choose one of the built-in solution user account IDs and then reset the password for the solution user.
  4. Next, get the password for the solution user.
  5. From the left navigation of your Google Cloud account, select Private Clouds and then click on your private cloud name.
    Select your private cloud that you want to make a protected site.
  6. Under the Management appliances tab at the bottom, copy the vCenter Server IP address.
  7. Save the solution user credentials and the vCenter Server IP address, which you will need when you register this vCenter Server as a protected site.
  8. Exit Google Cloud.
