VMware Live Cyber Recovery supports protecting a Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as a protected site.
Before you begin setting up the Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as a protected site, you must do two things:
- Obtain login credentials for a Google Cloud solution user account. Google Cloud solution users are provided by default and have elevated privileges that enable them to perform more advanced administrative operations.
- Obtain the IP address of the vCenter Server on Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud.
To perform these tasks, see Before You Add Google Cloud VMware Engine as a Protected Site.
Once you obtain this information, perform these tasks to set up the protected site:
- Set up the Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as an on-premises protected site.
- Download the DRaaS Connector OVA from the VMware Cloud DR UI.
- Deploy the DRaaS Connector from the vSphere client UI.
- Configure the DRaaS Connector from the VM console.
- Register vCenter for a Google Cloud Protected Site.
Known Issue
The following issue applies when using Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud as a protected site:
- vCenter registration failure. vCenter registration failed when using the vCenter Administrator user on Google Cloud VMware Engine private cloud protected site because the Google Cloud user did not have sufficient privileges.
Workaround: To ensure that vCenter registration is successful, obtain login credentials for a Google Cloud solution user account, and then register vCenter selecting the vCenter Administrator user option.
