To use VMware Live Cyber Recovery, you must authorize its access to VMware Cloud Services and VMware Cloud on AWS.
VMware Live Cyber Recovery leverages OAuth 2.0 to communicate with VMware Cloud Services backend services and VMware Cloud on AWS.
You only need to authorize access for VMware Live Cyber Recovery once. If the OAuth apps are deleted or modified, you need to reauthorize access for VMware Live Cyber Recovery.
- An OAuth app named 'Cyber Recovery - VMware Cloud Services' is used to connect to VMware Cloud Services, so you can protect sites and create protection groups with snapshot replication. This OAuth app must be created before you can use VMware Live Cyber Recovery.
- An OAuth app named 'Cyber Recovery - VMC on AWS' is used to connect to VMware Cloud on AWS, which enables you to deploy a recovery SDDC and perform disaster and ransomware recovery operations. Creating this Oauth app is optional, but without it you cannot perform any disaster or ransomware recovery operations.
From the VMware Cloud Services console in your Organization, you can view these and all other OAuth apps in your organization from .
From the VMware Live Recovery global console, you can view the tasks and events related to authorizing VMware Live Cyber Recovery from the Activities Log from the left navigation.

Procedure
- Log in to VMware Cloud Services using your VMware account at https://console.cloud.vmware.com.
- Select Services and then click the 'Launch Service' link for the VMware Live Recovery tile.
- From the left navigation, select .
- On the Cyber Recovery Settings page, under VMware Cloud Services click .
- In the Authorize VMware Cloud Services dialog box, select the checkbox to authorize VMware Cloud Services to create an OAuth app for VMware Live Cyber Recovery.
- Under VMware Cloud on AWS, click Authorize VMware Cloud on AWS.
