This guide provides information on how to migrate NSX-T Load Balancer to NSX Advanced Load Balancer.

Migration Coordinator can be used to migrate the existing deployments from NSX Data Center for vSphere environment with Load Balancer deployment to NSX-T Data Center environment with NSX Advanced Load Balancer starting with VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.2 release.

As these two are different products and environments, features might have limitations. When you import your NSX Data Center for vSphere configuration to the migration coordinator, you will get detailed feedback on whether the features and configurations in your environment are supported or not.

The Logical Load Balancer in NSX Data Center for vSphere provides Transparent Mode configuration capability indicating whether the client IP addresses are visible to the back-end pool servers. The equivalent of Transparent mode is Preserve Client IP in NSX Advanced Load Balancer. The migration coordinator will provide feedback if the pool’s configuration has a Transparent Mode enabled for the virtual service instance configured for Overlay Transport Zone (Overlay Segments). The equivalent configuration is created in the NSX Advanced Load Balancer. Still, the functionality of Preserve Client IP will not work as this feature is currently not supported for Overlay Segments. In future releases, when the Preserve Client IP feature is added for Overlay Segments, you can follow the appropriate configuration guide to utilize the feature.

Note:

NSX Advanced Load Balancer supports Preserve Client IP for NSX-T Overlay cloud.
