Before trying to populate the value of the new attribute, verify that the SM_SerialNumber attribute has been added to the Router class in the data model of TEST_SERVER_RM.
To verify the presence of the new attribute:

Open a Global Console. For this example, attach to TEST_SERVER_RM.

Right-click within the Topology Browser Console topology tree and select Select .

Select Show classes with no instances in current domain, and click OK.

Select the Router class in the topology tree to display the attributes in the Attributes tab.
The SM_SerialNumber attribute appears, as shown in Serial number attribute added to the Router class in TEST_SERVER_RM.
