Server authentication involves setting up authentication records in the serverConnect.conf file. Each record contains information to control access to a particular server, an username and password, and a connection privilege. To modify this file, use the sm_edit utility as described in “Modifying ITOps files” on page 24.
Note:
Always use sm_edit utility to edit the serverConnect.conf. This is particularly important if the passwords are encrypted. When you use the sm_edit utility to edit the file, it saves changes to the file in BASEDIR/smarts/local/conf and encrypts the passwords; it does not modify the default, non-encrypted version of the file.
