This environment variable specifies the location where software writes output files such as repositories, log files, and saved consoles. By default, the location is set to BASEDIR/smarts/local. If you set the SM_WRITEABLE variable, you must also create the underlying directories.
Directories controlled by SM_WRITEABLE lists the directories whose location is controlled by SM_WRITEABLE:

The location where log files are saved can be separately controlled with the SM_LOGFILES environment variable.
