The file, mail-notify.conf, configures the notifier. The original version of the file is located in BASEDIR/smarts/conf/notifier. You should retain the original (unedited) version of the configuration file. A local copy should be made if you intend to make any modifications. If you intend to modify a configuration file, you should use the sm_edit utility provided with your VMware Smart Assurance software. This will ensure that you modify a copy of the file and that the copy is placed in the proper local subdirectory. “Editing notification adapter files” on page 20 contains additional information on modifying files and using sm_edit.
If you modify the configuration file while the notifier is running, you will need to restart the notifier so that it rereads its configuration file.
