Tanzu Service Mesh provides summary information about the infrastructure of each onboarded cluster (its nodes and services) and about each global namespace (its clusters and services). You can also observe key infrastructure and service metrics and examine the connections between the services in a service topology graph.

On the Home page of the Tanzu Service Mesh Console, you can view the summary infrastructure information, metrics, and service topology graphs for your clusters and global namespaces. You can use this information and metrics to monitor the state of your infrastructure and the performance of your services.

Prerequisites

Access the Tanzu Service Mesh Console.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation panel on the left side of the Tanzu Service Mesh Console, click Home.

The metrics bar at the top of the Home page displays a summary of infrastructure and service metrics. The metrics are collected and aggregated across your entire cluster infrastructure and services every 1 minute.

  2. To control which metrics are displayed on the metrics bar, click Metric Settings and select the check box next to each metric that you want displayed.

You can select a maximum of four metrics to be displayed on the metrics bar.

  3. To view the cards for the clusters onboarded to Tanzu Service Mesh, click the Cluster Overview tab.

A cluster's card displays the cluster display name at the top, the numbers of nodes and services in the cluster, and a service topology thumbnail graph.

  4. To see a card with the summary key metrics for the services in the cluster and details about the cluster, point to the cluster display name at the top of the card.
  5. To open the cluster details page, click the cluster display name.
  6. To view the topology of the services in the cluster in a graph format, click the topology thumbnail or the cluster name in the cluster card. For more information, see View the Topology of Services in a Global Namespace or a Cluster in Using VMware Tanzu Service Mesh.
  7. To view the cards for the global namespaces created in Tanzu Service Mesh, click the GNS Overview tab.

A global namespace card displays the global namespace name, the numbers of clusters and services in the global namespace, and a service topology thumbnail chart.

  8. To open the global namespace details page, click the name of the global namespace at the top of the card.
  9. To view the topology graph of the services in the global namespace, click the topology thumbnail or the global namespace name in the card. For more information, see View the Topology of Services in a Global Namespace or a Cluster in Using VMware Tanzu Service Mesh.
