You can upgrade an existing Workload Cluster Node Pool to include the latest Kubernetes version supported in the VMware Telco Cloud Automation 3.1.1.
Note:
Starting with VMware Telco Cloud Automation 2.2, where the Control Plane upgrade is separated from the Node Pool upgrade, several options are available for upgrading a Node Pool:
Keep Node Pools in current version
Upgrade specific Node Pools
Upgrade all Node Pools
Upgrade Node Pools in parallel or serial
Node Pool can be in one version lower than or equal to the Control Plane
Prerequisites
Before upgrade the Workload Cluster Node Pool, ensure that the Workload Cluster Control Plane is upgraded and the Workload Cluster is in Provisioned status.
Procedure
- Log in to the VMware Telco Cloud Automation web interface.
- Go to Infrastructure > CaaS Infrastructure > Cluster Instances.
- Click the Kubernetes cluster name that you want to configure.
- In the Node Pools tab, click the Options (⋮) symbol against the node pool that you want to upgrade.
- Click Edit. The Node Pool Details window opens.
- Select the new TCA BOM Release that you want upgrade to.
- Select the VM Template that is suitable for the TCA BOM Release you selected and click Apply.
- After the Node Pool dialog is closed, click Next until Ready to Deploy and click Deploy.
You can monitor the upgrade process below the rows of the Node Pool and the upgrade events in the Events tab.
- If the upgrade fails, click the Retry option to retry the Node Pool upgrade. However, configuration modification is not allowed before Retry.
Results
You have successfully upgraded a Node Pool of a Kubernetes cluster instance.
