You can upgrade VMware NSX from version 3.2.2 to 4.1.1.0 Upgrading NSX involves upgrading its components in the following order: Edges, Hosts, and Management Nodes.
Prerequisites
Follow these prerequisites :
Perform the Pre-Upgrade Tasks.
Review the NSX Upgrade Checklist to track your work on the NSX upgrade process.
Back up the NSX Manager configuration. For instructions, see Backing Up and Restoring NSX Manager or Global Manager.
Beginning with NSX 4.0.0.1, the NSX N-VDS virtual switch is no longer supported on ESXi hosts. For existing NSX deployments that use N-VDS on ESXi hosts, move to VDS first and then upgrade NSX to 4.1.1. VDS is configured through vCenter, while N-VDS is vCenter-independent. For more information, see KB79872.
Procedure
What to do next
Perform Post-Upgrade Tasks to verify whether the upgrade is successful.
After the NSX upgrade is successful, verify that the clusters prepared for NSX are in Success state:
Log in to NSX manager using Virtual IP (VIP) address.
Navigate to System > Fabric > Node > Host Transport Nodes.
Verify that all the clusters prepared for NSX are in Success state without any error.
If there is any error on the ESXi hosts in the cluster, reconfigure the transport node by selecting the CONFIGURE NSX option on the cluster using the existing transport node profile. If there is any other upgrade issue, see Troubleshooting Upgrade Failures.
