This section includes instructions to create NSX logical components.

Procedure

  1. Create NSX Transport Zones:
    1. Create an Overlay-type Transport Zone. For more information, see Create Transport Zones.
    2. Create a VLAN-type Transport Zone. For more information, see Create Transport Zones.
  2. Create an Uplink profile VDS Enhanced Overlay. For more information, see Create an Uplink Profile.

Provide the VLAN ID while creating the Uplink profile for the Transport VLAN option.

  3. Create an IP Pool for the VXLAN Tunnel Endpoint (VTEP) IP address. Create the IP pool with IP range to create VTEP VMkernel for each ESXi host when configuring the ESXi host Overlay Transport node. For more information, see Create an IP Pool for Tunnel Endpoint IP Addresses.
    Note:
    • Use the IP range from the Subnet of the VLAN that was used while creating the uplink profile for VDS Overlay.

    • Ensure that VTEP pools have sufficient IP addresses for Edge and Host VTEPs.

  4. Create a transport node profile.
    Note:

Transport node profiles apply only to hosts. It cannot be applied to NSX Edge transport nodes.

    1. Create a Transport node profile and include both Overlay and VLAN Transport Zones. See Add a Transport Node Profile.
    2. Use Standard Mode or Enhanced Mode for both VDS switches. For more information about the prerequisites for using the enhanced mode, see NSX Enhanced Data Path.
    3. If you use Enhanced Mode, assign the Lcores from the respective NUMA index for VDS Enhanced Switch.
    4. Select at least one physical adapter to each VDS Switch.
