Threshold groups for interfaces are used to configure parameters for interface analysis. Thresholds are determined by the interface’s media type (for example, Ethernet or ATM) and its role (primary, backup, or dial-on-demand).

Default interface threshold groups for the IP Manager shows the default interface threshold groups, their target classes and matching criteria, and their default settings. The target class for all interface threshold groups is Interface.

Four things to note about Default interface threshold groups for the IP Manager:

  • The default group-to-setting mappings in the table are the mappings that users would typically use. The settings that are available to an interface threshold group are as follows:

    • Backup Interface Support

    • Dial-on-Demand Interface Support

    • Disable Fault Analysis for Interface/Port

    • Disable Performance Analysis for Interface/Port

    • Ethernet Interface/Port Performance

    • Generic Interface/Port Performance

    • Interface/Port Flapping

  • The “Other Interfaces” threshold group has the lowest priority. Managed interfaces that do not match the criteria for the other interface threshold groups become members of the Other Interfaces threshold group.

  • Only discovered objects that match the type and attribute values in the “Target class and matching criteria” column for a particular group can become members of that group.

  • By default, all discovered objects that match the type and attribute values in the "Target class and matching criteria" column for a particular group become members of that group.

    You can specify matching criteria for a threshold group to limit its membership, as explained in “Editing matching criteria” on page 146.
