Table 1. Default values for the Interface Management Policy setting

Parameter

Default value

Description

DefaultManagementStatus

MANAGED

Indicates the default management status of interfaces on systems to which this setting applies. The value can be MANAGED or UNMANAGED.

Discovery is required for any change to take effect.

Note:

If you set an interface management policy, the policy can be overridden for a particular interface by using the manage/unmanage options that are available through the Domain Manager Administration Console. Managing the unmanaged physical interface, does not manage its logical interfaces automatically, like IPSec interfaces. Managing the unmanaged group, unmanages its underlying components and this works for Redundancy Groups such as, HSRPGroup, VRRPGroup.

To use the Interface Management Policy setting, add the setting to a system resource threshold group or a system VLAN tag group. Accessing the Polling and Thresholds Console and adding a setting to a group are described in “Opening the Polling and Thresholds Console” on page 18 and “Working with groups and settings” on page 104.

When a system becomes a member of a system resource threshold group or a system VLAN tag group to which the Interface Management Policy setting is applied, the IP Manager sets the IsManaged attribute of the interfaces of the system in accordance to the DefaultManagementStatus parameter value:

  • DefaultManagementStatus = UNMANAGED sets IsManaged to FALSE.

  • DefaultManagementStatus = MANAGED sets IsManaged to TRUE.
