To allow the console to easily suppress names of component domain servers, domain names must comply with the following naming convention:

Group Name-Role[-Sub-Role]

Where:

  • Group Name — Identifies the function of the group (for example, MPLS) as well as the region or other further designation if multiple groups with the same function are being deployed. For example, MPLS-NA might designate the MPLS server group monitoring North America.

  • Role — Must be one of MONITORING, TOPOLOGY, or ANALYSIS. This is the key field the graphical user interface uses to identify component servers.

  • Sub-Role — Distinguishes multiple servers within the same role. For example, MPLS-Monitoring-Snmp and MPLS-Monitoring-Ping.
