LSP ping

The LSP ping functionality, shown in GUID-C879580B-217E-41C4-A54A-82959745B63C.html#GUID-C879580B-217E-41C4-A54A-82959745B63C___MPLS_CONFIG_AM_70459 and clarified in LSP ping functionality for MPLS Manager, enables the MPLS Topology Server to run on-demand MPLS LSP pings that are launched from the Global Manager. LSP ping is available for Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs and is applicable to label switched paths (LSPs) that are constructed by using the Label Distribution Protocol.

Receiving a successful LSP ping report verifies two things:

• The source device from which the ping request was launched is reachable from the MPLS Topology Server.

• The source device is able to reach the destination device through the specified LSP.

  The LSP ping functionality is built on the CLI tool framework that is described in Chapter 10, “Building CLI-Based Server Tools on the CLI Framework.”

  Chapter 6, “Configuring the Global Manager,” describes how to enable the use of on-demand LSP ping server tools. The MPLS Management Suite User Guide describes LSP ping operation.
