After the initial discovery and modeling of the MPLS and VPN topology objects, MPLS Manager updates the status of the objects by continuously monitoring the devices through SNMP polling. The results of the polling, in addition to the status updates that are received from IP Availability Manager, serve as input to the MPLS Manager correlation analysis.

For SNMP polling, MPLS Manager uses an IPv4 SNMP poller, which sends SNMPv1, v2c, or v3 messages for use with IP version 4. MPLS Manager authentication and privacy protocol support for SNMPv3 identifies the authentication and privacy protocol support for SNMPv3.
