In addition to identifying the MIBs that are supported by the host device, an MPLSService instance identifies the device type of the host device. Device types are defined in Device type definitions.

The MPLS Topology Server assigns the device type to an MPLSService instance during the postprocessing phase of discovery.
A device type of Other indicates that the host device is not a PE, P, CE, or multi-VRF CE. For an “Other” host device, the only relationship that is created for an MPLSService instance is HostedBy.
