As you can see in the example, stable time is equal to the length of time between the received time of the last trap and the received time of the first trap. Stable time is restricted in two ways:

  • If stable time is less than the trap time window, it is set to the Trap_Time_Window value.

  • If stable time is greater than one hour (3600 seconds), it is set to one hour.

    Stable time is proportional to the length of time that an endpoint is unstable: The longer an endpoint is unstable, the longer the endpoint must be stable before the flapping condition is reset. Using the example for clarification, suppose that another trap is received during the 75-second stable time. That trap would become the last trap, and the stable time would become the length of time between the received time of that trap and the received time of the first trap.
