Monitoring

Upon importing device topology from IP Availability Manager, Network Protocol Manager for BGP performs its own discovery on the devices to gather BGP topology information. It models this information as logical BGP topology objects in its repository, and maps the BGP topology to the underlying physical-transport topology discovered by IP Availability Manager.

Network Protocol Manager for BGP monitors the availability of the BGP objects in its repository by:

• Subscribing to certain device, card, interface, and network-connection status updates from IP Availability Manager.

• Monitoring the status of the BGP objects through:

  • SNMP polling.

  • CLI polling (for IPv6 only)

  • SNMP trap message processing (optional).

  • Syslog message processing (optional).
