The examples that follow show how Network Protocol Manager for IS-IS uses the relationships between the IS-IS objects and the underlying physical-transport objects to perform IS-IS impact analysis. In addition, the examples show how the Global Manager picks up where Network Protocol Manager for IS-IS leaves off to perform global impact analysis.

Keep the following information in mind when reading these examples:

  • A router has multiple physical interfaces.

  • A physical interface may have multiple IS-IS interfaces.

  • An IS-IS interface has one and only one IS-IS neighbor endpoint.

  • An IS-IS neighbor endpoint may have multiple IS-IS adjacencies.
