The ISIS EXTERNAL Setting serves two purposes:

  • Provides a means of testing the IS-IS interface instrumentation and analysis functionality of Network Protocol Manager for IS-IS.

  • Provides a means for Network Protocol Manager for IS-IS to import IS-IS interface status updates from an Smarts Smarts adapter, such as the Smarts Adapter for Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM EMS.
