When VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance is upgraded to the latest version, it detects the version of attached domain managers. If an older version is found, the Schedule Upgrade option is enabled for that domain manager.

Prerequisites

  • It is recommended to upgrade all SAM domain managers first before upgrading rest of the domain managers.
  • To check the supported domain managers version for upgrade, refer to Interop Matrix guide or Interoperability Matrix tool.
  • Ensure that all necessary steps are taken before triggering the upgrade, such as backing up customizations and command definitions if running in server mode.
  • Plan the upgrade during a maintenance window, as the services are down during the upgrade process.
  • You must have sufficient space for the ISO images in the source VM where you place the ISO images.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Administration > Configuration > Collectors and Connectors > Smarts Integrations.
  2. Click ellipsis button (three vertical dots) next to the Broker, and select Details.
  3. Click ellipsis button (three vertical dots) next to the Domain Manager, and select Schedule Upgrade.

  4. Select the VM Credential, for the upgrade service to login into the VM where the domain manager is running. For more information on creating credentials, refer Create Smarts Credentials.
    Note:

If VM credentials are not available create one by selecting Add Credentials.

  5. Validate the credentials.
The credentials are validated upon selection of credentials in step 4. If credentials are correct, the Upgrade Now option appears.
  6. Select Upgrade Source VM credentials or create new using Add Upgrade Source VM credentials. This VM contains the ISO files required for the domain manager upgrade. For more information on creating credentials, refer Create Smarts Credentials.
    Note:

If Upgrade Source VM credentials are not available create one by selecting Add Credentials.

  7. Click Upgrade Now or Schedule Later from the options available to initiate or schedule the upgrade .
The upgrade process creates a Tasks to track the progress. The Tasks appears as In Progress and update to Completed upon successful completion. If the upgrade fails, the Tasks appears as Failed with an appropriate message. For more information on Tasks refer, Managing Tasks in the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance User Guide.

Results

  • The domain manager services restarts and re-attach to the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance user interface automatically.
  • The Versions column for the domain manager updates to the latest version, and the Schedule Upgrade option is disabled.
