SaltStack Config supports RHEL 7.4 - 7.9, 8, and 9. To migrate to a newer RHEL version, follow these steps.

RHEL 8 and 9 do not support some of the kernel modules that RHEL 7 does, as a result, it is recommended to migrate from one release to the next instead of jumping to the latest version.

The RHEL migration process includes these key steps:
  1. Create new RHEL 8/9 systems
  2. Backup existing Salt infrastructure systems
  3. Setup and run Standard Installation
  4. Proced with migration
