To meter the product consumption data of VMware Aria Automation 8.x, you must add the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle associated with the VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance in vCloud Usage Meter.

After registering the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle instance, vCloud Usage Meter automatically discoveres and starts collecting product consumption data from the associated VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that the VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance is associated with VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle.
  • Verify that the authentication and authorization is setup correctly with the VMware Identity Manager instance associated with VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle.
  • Verify that you can log in to the browser-based administration interface hosted by the VMware Aria Automation appliance.
  • Verify that you have a VMware vCenter Server or Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP etc.) account endpoint added to your VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance.
  • Verify that you have added the associated VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle instance to vCloud Usage Meter. For more information, see Add a VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle Instance for Metering in vCloud Usage Meter.
  • Verify that vCloud Usage Meter can find the the VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance.

Procedure

  1. In the main menu bar of the vCloud Usage Meter Web interface, click Products.
  2. Add the credentials for the VMware Aria Automation 8.x instance.
    1. In the left pane, navigate to Management > Aria Automation.
    2. From the list with instances, select the VMware Aria Automation instance and review its status. The status can be Please accept certificate, Please enter credentials, or Connection error.
    3. (Optional) If the status is Please accept certificate, click to accept the product certificate. The status must change to Please enter credentials.
    4. Click Please enter credentials and provide the credentials for the VMware Aria Automation instance as configured in the VMware Identity Manager of the associated VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle instance.
  3. Click Save.

Results

You successfully added the VMware Aria Automation to the list of instances. If an error occurs, an error message appears on the Aria Automation page.
