You upgrade the vSphere Replication appliance and any additional vSphere Replication servers by using a downloaded ISO image and the virtual appliance management interface (VAMI).
vSphere Replication Upgrade Scenarios
You use the ISO file and the VAMI to upgrade from vSphere Replication 8.3.x or 8.4.x to vSphere Replication 8.5.

- You can upgrade vSphere Replication 8.3.x or 8.4.x to 8.5 by using the ISO file for vSphere Replication 8.5.
- You cannot upgrade vSphere Replication 6.5.1 to 8.5 by using the VAMI.
- You can upgrade between minor versions of vSphere Replication, for example 8.1.1 to 8.1.2, by using the ISO file and the VAMI.
