Discover Application Topology

Topology discovery allows you to automatically group discovered components into applications and creates flows between components using network flow data from vRealize Network Insight.

Prerequisites

• Ensure that you have the required permissions. For more information, see Overview Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu Roles.

• Introspect the VMs.
• Associate with vRealize Network Insight.
  Note: This is an optional step. However, if you perform this step, you get a in-depth topology view of your setup.

Procedure

1. Click Discovery from the main menu.
2. On the left navigation page, go to Inventory > vCenters.
3. Select a vCenter Server and click Discover Topology.

Results

The Discover Topology task triggers. On successful completion of the task, you can see the generated application listed in Inventory > Applications.

If all connected components are not part of an existing application, then Application Transformer for VMware Tanzucreates a new application automatically with all connected components.

What to do next

1. Go to Inventory > Applications.
2. Click an application name to open specific application details.
3. Select the Topology tab to view the generated topology of an application.
