HCX provides diagnostic tools that can help you troubleshoot data plane connectivity issues between site pairs.

During the site pairing process, HCX deploys a set of data plane appliances at both the source and destination sites to support HCX migration and network extension services, including:
  • Bulk Migration
  • Replication Assisted vMotion Migration
  • Cross-cloud vMotion Migration
  • WAN Optimization
  • Network Extension

To perform these services, HCX establishes connections between the appliances using the networks defined in the Service Mesh, including the Management and External networks.

Note:

For a Service Mesh with only HCX Assisted vMotion (Direct), NSX-MC Integrated Migration (V2T), or both migration types, data-plane diagnostics is unavailable.

If HCX detects a connection issue for any of the services, the Service Mesh displays an icon indicating that the connection is down or degraded.
