Use the navigation on the left to browse through the documentation available for your release of NSX Data Center for vSphere. All NSX Data Center for vSphere documentation also comes in PDF format, which you can access by selecting the PDF icon while you are reading a page or viewing a search result.
NSX Data Center for vSphere provides networking and security functionality for your vSphere environment, including logical switching, logical routing, Distributed Firewall, load balancer, NAT, and VPN.
NSX Data Center for vSphere is installed as a plug-in to VMware vCenter Server®. Use the VMware vSphere® Web Client to manage your NSX Data Center for vSphere. Starting in NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4 some functionality is also available using the VMware vSphere® Client™. You can view a list of supported functionality here: Functionality Updates.
Installing and Using NSX Data Center for vSphere
You can download NSX Data Center for vSphere from the NSX Data Center for vSphere download page.
You can install NSX Data Center for vSphere on a single vCenter environment, or a cross-vCenter environment. See the NSX Installation Guide and the Cross-vCenter NSX Installation Guide for step-by-step instructions to install NSX Data Center for vSphere.
The NSX Administration Guide has information on configuring and monitoring NSX Data Center for vSphere.
For information about using NSX Data Center for vSphere APIs, see the NSX API Guide. You can also find API information in the API Explorer at code.vmware.com.

Upgrading NSX Data Center for vSphere
If you already use NSX Data Center for vSphere, you can find information about upgrading in the NSX Upgrade Guide. If you are upgrading to NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4, you can use the Upgrade Coordinator to manage the upgrade more easily. See Upgrade NSX Using Upgrade Coordinator in the NSX Upgrade Guide for more information.
