In a Global Console, when a target object is right-clicked, the Client Tools menu automatically lists the VoIP client tools that are available.

The context filter is the mechanism that determines whether the VoIP client tool is listed as a selection choice in the Client Tools menu. If the context filter criteria is satisfied, the client tool is listed in the Client Tools menu.

For example, the VoIP client tool “Launch Hardware Conference Bridge View” appears in the Client Tools menu for any Cisco CallManager object when:

  • The Vendor attribute has the value CISCO.

  • The ExternalName attribute is populated with a value.

If the ExternalName attribute is not populated with a value, the “Launch Hardware Conference Bridge View” does not appear in the Client Tools menu. If a value does not exist for an ExternalName attribute (or other target object attributes depending on the client tool), no trap information was ever received from VoIP Performance Manager for the particular object.

Context filters for VoIP client tools identifies the context filter for each VoIP client tool. A tool’s context filter specifies the tool’s target object and certain target object attribute values.
