The discovery is divided into four phases, shown in GUID-58AE804A-BD7B-4557-B2F6-1E86611BADDB.html#GUID-58AE804A-BD7B-4557-B2F6-1E86611BADDB___IP_CONCEPTS_DISCOVERY_95824, that are performed sequentially for each discovery candidate system:

  1. Perform initial polling of the candidate system

  2. Determine the destination of the candidate system: add to topology, place on Pending Devices list, or discard

  3. Probe the system that is added to the topology

  4. Post-process the discovery information
