VMware vRealize Network Insight 6.7 | 12 JUL 2022 | Build 1656233033 Check for additions and updates to these release notes. |
Here are the key features and capabilities of vRealize Network Insight 6.7:
VMware NSX-T Monitoring and Troubleshooting
vRealize Network Insight introduces the following features for VMware NSX-T devices:
CPU core usage metrics for NSX-T Edge Node CPU Core devices.
Router interface metrics for VMware NSX-T Transport Node.
uRPF Drop Packet metrics on the VMware NSX-T router interface and Cisco ASR 1000 switch port entity pages. vRealize Network Insight also creates an alert if the percentage of uRPF packet drop exceeds a threshold of 1%.
Network Assurance and Verification
Introduces support for ACI contracts in path search and elastic search.
Collects dropped flows alerts from vRealize Log Insight for Check Point Firewall and Palo Alto Networks devices.
Platform Enhancements
Introduces the Refresh Now button on the License and Usage page to view the data on demand.
Supports IPv6 configuration and flow collection for VMware vCenter and VMware NSX-T data sources. For more information, see IPv6 Flow Processing.
In-Product Learning
Introduces guided workflows on Traffic Distribution and Security Planning, and Guided Network Troubleshooting. These guides provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete a workflow from start to end. They also provide guided walkthroughs for complicated pages and actions.
When you log in for the first time, you see these guides on the Welcome screen.

vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.8.0 Product Support Pack 2 supports the installation of vRealize Network Insight 6.7. See VMware vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager 8.8.x Product Support Pack Release Notes. To install and upgrade vRealize Network Insight by using vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager, see the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager Installation, Upgrade, and Management Guide.
The supported upgrade path is available at https://interopmatrix.vmware.com/#/Upgrade?productId=285.
Refer to the Upgrading vRealize Network Insight section for more information on the upgrade procedure.
For additional information about new features, see the vRealize Network Insight documentation.
Note: As you use the vRealize Network Insight documentation, we want you to know that we value inclusion at VMware. To foster this principle within our customers, partners, and internal communities, we have updated some terminology in our documentation.
The VMware Product Interoperability Matrix provides details about the compatibility of vRealize Network Insight with other VMware products.
For MIB information, see Determining the MIB module listing, name, and type of an SNMP OID. You can download the SNMP MIB module file from the VMware Knowledge Base Article: 1013445.
On the Accounts and Data Sources page, when you search for a specific data source and click the select all check box, the system selects all the data sources listed in the Accounts and Data Sources page, irrespective of the search result. For more details, see KB-88300.
FoundationDB becomes unhealthy as the ID_TO_ID_ASSOCIATION
object type takes up significant memory and causes churn, making the user interface inaccessible.
After deleting the Virtual Network Interface Card (VNIC), delete its entry from the associated entities of the ID_TO_ID_ASSOCIATION
object type.
No data being received alert is displayed on the NSX Advanced Load Balancer data source page as vRealize Network Insight is unable to collect data from the data source after a few hours of adding it.
The Distributed Firewall (DFW) rule applied to a group of VMs is incorrectly displayed for all VMs.
Adding a ServiceNow data source fails if your account does not have the minimum necessary privileges. See Add a ServiceNow account to learn more.
If the system triggers computation of the license usage immediately after a host is updated by the user, the license computation fails and displays stale results.
Entities in vRealize Network Insight public APIs do not return unique records.
vRealize Network Insight generates false-positive duplicate IP alerts for Anycast gateway IP addresses on the SVI network interface of Cisco Nexus 9K devices.
vRealize Network Insight generates false-positive duplicate IP address alerts for loopback interfaces that are bound to the NVE interface of the Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switches within the same vPC domain.
The RPF mode attribute and the RPF drop count metric are not supported for Cisco ASR 1000 Layer 3 port-channel interfaces.
False-positive duplicate IP address alerts are generated for floating IP addresses of F5 BIG IP devices that are part of the same traffic group.
Metrics widget in the Cisco UCS FEX entities page does not show the interface metrics.
Use global search to see the metrics of the Cisco UCS FEX interfaces.
Metrics for the Cisco UCS Blade interfaces are not updated in the metric entity page.
Metrics for the Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect Management interface are not updated in the metric entity page.
Flow based Application Discovery auto discovery does not start when large brick size clusters are upgraded to extra large brick size clusters.
Manually start Flow based Application Discovery when you upgrade large brick size clusters to extra large brick size clusters on your vRealize Network Insight environment.
While performing SNMP based Seed Device Auto Discovery, Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) gives IP addresses which may or may not be management IP addresses. vRealize Network Insight ignores all non management IP addresses while performing SNMP based Seed Device Auto Discovery.
Port Mode Mismatch intent of vRealize Network Insight may not process physical underlay interface pairs when VMware vCenter data sources are present.
While performing an upgrade, the pre-checks can fail with the HBase or HDFS unhealthy error. Also, during normal operations, vRealize Network Insight interface can be unresponsive.
Restart the restapilayer service on all nodes to resolve these issues. If these issues persist, contact VMware support.
New - Sometimes, IPFIX gets enabled for DVPGs connected to VMware NSX-T Edge VMs and gets disabled later. But this does not cause any change in the number of flows reported to vRealize Network Insight.
New - The Multiple NIC corresponding to Service Node IP Found alert does not disappear after updating the IP addresses of corresponding network interface cards.
New - vRealize Network Insight may display a network loop alert if VMware NSX-T tier routers have NAT configured on them.
New - Unable to display discovered applications after saving them due to the presence of '(’ or ')' in the tag values. The saved applications show 0 members.
For each tag in the discovered application, escape “(” or ")" using “\” in the tier criteria while saving the application.
For example, replace (Name) and (Tag matches 'Application:(Jira (App Prod))')
with (Name) and (Tag matches 'Application:(Jira \(App Prod\))')
.
New - vRealize Network Insight public APIs do not return unique records for Flow, Service Endpoint, and Endpoint IP entities.
New - The autocomplete feature is not supported for IPv6 addresses.
New - End-to-end path search involving Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T data sources does not work in the network map.
In Arista BGP EVPN Topology, network map path results are inconsistent if the gateway of the source or destination VM is a virtual IP of Arista switches configured with VARP over MLAG.
