If you are running vSphere Replication 8.5, upgrade to vSphere Replication 8.5.0.4. See Upgrading vSphere Replication in the VMware vSphere Replication Administration 8.5 for instructions about upgrading vSphere Replication.

If you use vSphere Replication with Site Recovery Manager 8.5.0.x, upgrade the vSphere Replication appliance to version 8.5.0.4. See the Site Recovery Manager 8.5.0.4 Release Notes for information about Site Recovery Manager 8.5.0.4.

Resolved Issues

  • NEW vSphere Replication appliance registration with vCenter Server fails with an error

When you try to register the vSphere Replication appliance with vCenter Server, and you use an administrator email address that starts with a hyphen (for example, [email protected]), the registration fails with a nondescriptive error.

Workaround: This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.5.0.4.

  • NEW ESXi host profile remediation fails with an error

When you apply a copy of the original ESXi host profile to a new cluster, and try to remediate the profile, the process fails with the following error:

    Remediation failed.

Workaround: This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.5.0.4.

  • NEW Unexpected messages fill the host event logs

You might observe that the following message fills the host event logs:

User [email protected] logged in as hbr-agent.

Workaround: This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.5.0.4.

  • NEW An unexpected error appears in the HMS log

The vSphere Replication appliance might fail to automatically install the vmware-hbr-agent VIB on the supported ESXi hosts in the vCenter Server inventory where the appliance is deployed. The following error message might appear in the HMS log:

    Unable to locate property "lifecycleManaged".

Workaround: This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 8.5.0.4.

  • NEW VM recovery fails with an error

When you try to recover a VM, whose virtual machine configuration (VMX) file contains ethernet key entries that start with both lower and upper case, the recovery might fail with the following error:

    Failed to reconfigure recovered VM.
