You use the ISO file and the VRMS Appliance Management Interface to upgrade from vSphere Replication 8.3.x or 8.4.x to vSphere Replication 8.5.0.x.
If you are running vSphere Replication 8.5, upgrade to vSphere Replication 184.108.40.206. See Upgrading vSphere Replication in the VMware vSphere Replication Administration 8.5 for instructions about upgrading vSphere Replication.
If you use vSphere Replication with Site Recovery Manager 8.5.0.x, upgrade the vSphere Replication appliance to version 220.127.116.11. See the Site Recovery Manager 18.104.22.168 Release Notes for information about Site Recovery Manager 22.214.171.124.
Note: If you are upgrading from vSphere Replication 8.3.x, you must configure a password for the admin account. See Step 12 of the procedure in Upgrade vSphere Replication Appliance.
- NEW You cannot recover a virtual machine
When you replicate a virtual machine with a .vmx file that is larger than 64 KB, the file is successfully replicated on the target site. However, if you try to perform а virtual machine recovery, the recovery fails due to a .vmx configuration file buffer size limitation.
This issue is resolved in vSphere Replication 126.96.36.199.
