This host registration method relies on the hosts unique Activation Key which is used instead of the vendor, make and serial number to register your host with the Edge Compute Stack Service. The Activation Key can be found on your hosts initial boot screen after a succesfull deployment.
To add your deployed host using the Activation Key follow these steps:
Procedure
- Open the VMware Edge Compute Stack Service from the URL provided to you when registering.
- Click Configure/Hosts.
- Click ADD A HOST.
- Change the Activation Type to Activation Key.
- Enter the Activation Key found on the screen of the deployed host.
- Enter a Host Name for the host to be added.
The Host Name is a user-friendly identifier which can be used in the Edge Compute Stack service, the API and also as a kubernetes label which can be used to identify this host in your YAML manifests.
- Click Next.
- Select the Site you would like to add your host into.
- Click Next.
- Choose to use the same git repository as the selected site or to configure a new git repository for this host only. If choosing for this host only, enter the git repository details.
- Click Next.
- Optionally, add any key/value labels you would like associated to this host.
- Click Add Host.
