A cluster is made up of active and passive nodes. When a user communicates with the virtual IP, it picks up the active node. At any point, if one node becomes unavailable, the virtual IP picks up the other node. Virtual IP and the two load balancer node IPs must be in the same subnet. Any operation such as add a node, delete a node, update password, or update certificate can be done on load balancer node.
