You can activate your VMware Aria Universal Suite subscriptions with VMware Skyline. VMware Skyline discovers on-premises products eligible for VMware Aria Universal Suite subscription licenses and activates and monitors the consumption of all your products using VMware Aria Hub Manager.

Skyline sends the necessary information to activate the licenses to the VMware Aria Hub Subscription. For more information about VMware Aria Subscription Manager, see VMware Aria Subscription Manager documentation.

Perform the following steps to activate VMware Aria Universal Suite License:

If you cannot access the VMware Aria Universal Suite License, you'll notice that the "Get Started" button is inactive. The notification icon will also display a message instructing you to "Reach out to the Procurement Contact associated with your Entitlement Account" for further assistance.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that you have a VMware Cloud services Organization for Skyline.

  • Ensure that you have access to VMware Aria Universal Suite Subscription.

  • Verify that you have access to VMware Aria Universal Suite license keys.

Procedure

  1. Go to Skyline Advisor and log in to Cloud Services. You can use your existing ‘Customer Connect’ credentials to log in to VMware Cloud services. You do not need to create a new account.
  2. The Notification panel on the Dashboard displays the VMware Aria Universal Suite subscription activation message. Click Get Started.
  3. A launching screen is displayed. Skyline is verifying your Cloud Services Organization details.
  4. If you have not set up your organization's billing information, click SET UP BILLING INFORMATION to add your billing information.

    You must enter the billing information to set up VMware Aria Hub Subscription and start consuming Universal Suite Licenses.

  5. On the VMware Cloud services, click Billing & Subscriptions > Manage Payment Method.
  6. Click Create Organization Profile. Enter the credit card information and click Complete.
  7. On the VMware Aria Universal Suite License Management page, click Accept and Proceed to provide your permission to share data with VMware Aria Subscription Manager.
  8. Select the products for which you want to activate the license. You need to select at least one product to proceed. Click Proceed.
    Step 1 is completed. Universal Suite license is selected on the VMware Aria Universal Suite License Management page.

    If you want to activate your Universal Suite license, select listed Universal Suite license.

    If you want to replace your perpetual license with a Universal Suite license, select listed perpetual licenses.

  9. If you have not activated VMware Aria Subscription Manager in your organization, select the preferred Order ID. Skyline will set up the Hub Subscription service for you.
    Order ID is selected in Step 3 on the VMware Aria Universal Suite License Management page.

    Hub Subscription is successfully activated for your organization.

  10. A pop-up window with success message is displayed. Click Go to VMware Aria Hub Subscription.
    Go To VMware Aria Hub Subscription button is displayed.

    You have been redirected to the License Management page in Hub Subscription. The details are prefilled and carried over from Skyline.

  11. If you have selected perpetual license in Step 8, then follow these steps:
    1. Under Add Customer Connect Details, enter your VMware Customer Connect password and click Validate & Add. Your Customer Connect user name is auto-filled if you are already added to the VMware Aria Hub Subscription service.
      Apply License Flow page is shown. Under Add VMware Customer Connect, your Customer Connect user name is auto-filled as it is already added to the VMware Aria Subscription Manager service.
    2. Select the VMware Aria Universal Suite license from the list and click Next.
      On the Apply License Flow page, VMware Aria Universal Suite License is selected.

      The list only displays licenses associated with subscriptions redeemed under the current organization and associated with the Customer Connect Account selected in the previous step.

    3. Select the Cloud Proxy and click Next.
      On the Apply License Flow page, Cloud Proxy is selected.

      Ensure that the status of the selected cloud proxy is active.

      To add a Cloud Proxy, see Configuring a Cloud Proxy in VMware Aria Subscription.

      If you want to use an existing Cloud Proxy under a different cloud service in the same organization, click EXISTING CLOUD PROXY and click ADD.

    4. Under Add Product, enter the Root Password for your product and click Submit.

      The products are displayed based on the VMware Aria Universal Suite License edition you chose in the previous step.

    5. You can select the Admin Password or the Root Password based on the selected product.
      On the Apply License Flow page, VMware Aria product is selected. Username and password is entered.
    6. Select the check box to remove all the perpetual licenses from the selected product, if required.
    7. Once the validation is successful, click Submit.
  12. If you have selected VMware Aria Universal Suite License in Step 8, perform the following steps:
    1. Under Add Customer Connect Details, enter your VMware Customer Connect password and click Validate & Add. Your Customer Connect user name is auto-filled if you are already added to the VMware Aria Subscription service.
      On the Import Flow page, VMware Customer Connect details are added.
    2. Select the Cloud Proxy and click Next.
      On the Import Flow page, cloud proxy is selected.

      Ensure that the status of the selected cloud proxy is active.

      To add a Cloud Proxy, see Configuring a Cloud Proxy in VMware Aria Subscription.

      If you want to use an existing Cloud Proxy available in the same organization under a different cloud service, click EXISTING CLOUD PROXY and click ADD.

    3. Verify the product details.

      Products are displayed based on the VMware Aria Universal Suite license edition you previously selected.

      Licenses existing on the product must belong only to the subscriptions redeemed in the current organization.

    4. You can select the Admin Password or the Root Password based on the selected product.
      On the Import Flow page, products are verified.
    5. Select the check box to remove all the perpetual licenses from the selected product, if required.
    6. Once the validation is successful, click Submit.

      You can view the new VMware Aria Universal Suite on-premises licenses added to the License Management page.

  13. You can check the status of your license on the License Management page. Click DETAILS to check the activation progress.
    On the License Management page, VMware Aria Universal Suite License details are displayed. New products carded is shown with details button being clicked.
  14. Go to the Skyline Advisor Pro Inventory page. The VMware Aria Universal Suite license status for the relevant VMware Aria product is changed to Active in the License Type column.
