Use tags to group VMs and applications based on their importance in your setup and their deployment profile. You can assign tags to the VMs and to the applications.

Currently, Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu supports five tags:
  • RETIRE: Outdated applications or VMs, which might not need any further monitoring.
  • RETAIN: Outdated applications that are important and should not be removed from the setup.
  • REHOST: Applications that should not be modified, just to move as-is to a cloud environment.
  • REPLATFORM: Applications that should not be modified, but can be containerized.
  • REFACTOR: Applications to modify for modernization.
Note:
  • You can assign multiple tags to a VM or application.
  • You can assign tags to only one VM at a time from the table.
  • To analyze your application and transform, you must assign REPLATFORM or REFACTOR tags. If you do not assign these tags, you cannot see the application under the Analyze menu.
