During the discovery process, VoIP Availability Manager uses instances of certain VMware Smart Assurance ICIM classes to create within its repository a data model representation of the discovered VoIP objects. The data models represent the VoIP objects, their relationships, and their logical connections.

Discovery flow for VoIP Availability Manager identifies the phases of discovery for adding VoIP objects to the VoIP Availability Manager repository.

Figure 1. Discovery flow for VoIP Availability Manager

The discovery phases are:

  1. Import initial device topology from IP Availability Manager.

  2. Probe each managed device for VoIP topology information and relationships.

  3. Post-processing the discovery information.

  4. Retrieval of additional topology related to IP phones from IP Availability Manager.
