This chapter details the releases and changes of both the SaaS service and the Edge Host Image.
ECS 3.7 - 2024.08.29 Release

A new host build was not created for this release, all changes were service based only
SaaS Service
The URL and login information has changed, an email will have been recieved for existing users with new login details
Partners can now enable and manage VMware Edge Compute Stack services for their customers

All hosts can now have a single git repository as part of the site.
Virtual Machine Deployment (VM Operator) works with multiple datastores.

Sites - A centralized mechanism for managing multiple hosts within a unified Edge location.
UI update to allow easier monitoring and configuration separation of responsibilities.
The Host details page when clicking on a host in the Monitor/Hosts Page now shows the worker node IP address for use when using a NodePort.
Virtual Machine Deployment (VM Operator) Events and Alerts are now visible in the service.

Known Issues

Host takes around 25-30 Minutes to register after deployment or reboot.

Host Release
A new host image is available with the latest features, multiple bug fixes, and the product is renamed to "Edge Compute". To update your host, see Updating an Edge host image.
SaaS Service
Workload and host status can be monitored from the VMware Edge Compute Stack service as part of the events and alerts messages. The Gitops synchronize details are now available, successful events are listed in the Operations/Events screen. If there are issues with the definitions within your Git repository, an alert is raised in the Operations/Alerts screen. For more details, see Monitoring Host and Workload Details.
You can keep multiple server configurations in the same Git repository by providing a Git subpath when activating a host with a GitHub repository. For more details, see Associating an Edge host to a Git Repository.

2023.11.01 Release

This release has only updates to the service, there were no changes to the Edge Host Image.
SaaS Service
Renamed from “Project Keswick” to “VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator – Edge Compute”.
Updated the Delete Host feature - the deleted Hosts are first moved to a deleted state and a wipe of the host registration is sent, followed by a reboot. If this activity is not achievable because the host is already offline, the host can be deleted for the second time to remove the record from the service.
