During any period of time, several flapping conditions might be detected from either of the session’s endpoints. Network Protocol Manager for BGP stores the latest detected flapping data from both endpoints in the BGPSession object and in its log file. The BGPSession object also stores the total number of traps for both endpoints in its TotalTrapCount attribute, and stores the total number of flapping conditions for both endpoints in its TotalFlappingCount attribute.
The flapping data for an endpoint is not updated until the next flapping condition is detected for the endpoint.
When the Flapping event is cleared, Network Protocol Manager for BGP resets the endpoint’s trap instrumentation data, and resets the session’s flapping cache data and event details.
