Tags are labels that contain user-defined keys and values. You can attach tags to catalogs and instances, and virtual infrastructure. Tagging makes it easier to search and sort resources, and to assign specific rules to the resource.

Tags help in managing, grouping, and filtering resources in a catalog that have similar properties or for restricting access to resources to a certain group of users. For example, you can apply relevant tags when instantiating a network function catalog and filter the network function instances using these tags. Or, you can assign an SSD tag to your network functions. This way, you can gently enforce users to deploy these network functions only on VIMs having SSD as the storage profile.

Users with the Tag Admin privilege can create, edit, or delete tags. The System Administrator and Role Administrator roles have the Tag Admin privilege by default.

Note: Existing tags from VMware Telco Cloud Automation version 1.8 and earlier are exported and added to the list of tags in VMware Telco Cloud Automation 1.9 during upgrade.

Creating, Editing, and Deleting Tags

You can create a tag, assign key-value pairs and objects to it, edit, and delete the tag using VMware Telco Cloud Automation. For more information, see Managing RBAC Tags.

Adding Tags to VIMs

You can add tags when adding a VIM, or you can edit an existing VIM to add tags to it. For more information, see Configuring Your Virtual Infrastructure.

Add Tags to Permissions

You can add pre-created tags to Permissions, and use these tags for filtering objects in the catalog. For more information about adding tags to Permissions, see Create Permission.

Adding Tags to Network Function Catalogs

You can add tags when onboarding a network function, or you can edit an existing network function catalog to add tags to it. For more information, see Onboarding a Network Function.
